Margaret Hunnisett leaves
Down Infants School

A "MARVELLOUS send-off was given popular headmistress of the then Down Infants' School Margaret Hunnisett when she retired after 26 years in the post.
Miss Hunnisett is the centre of attention in the school hall as she received farewell gifts from pupils in July 1986.
THE picture holds no mystery for Chris Cox, of Arthur Road.
Chris e-mailed: "The picture shows Miss Hunnisett., head teacher of the Down Infants' School, on the day she retired, and I think this was 1985.
"I worked at the school as an ancillary then and wrote a leaving song for Miss Hunnisett, for which my son, David, then at the High School, composed a tune.
"The song was sung to Miss Hunnisett by the whole school and I still have a tape of them singing it. My daughter, Suzy, then a pupil, remembers the words to the song!
"Sadly, Miss Hunnisett died some years ago, having devoted her life to teaching."
